I'm in the huge process of moving - both apartments and this blog! Big changes are going down this summer....so keep them eyes peeled. It's so damn hot to do anything right now though, it's quite frustrating when you can't stand outside for more then 4 seconds because by the end of it you're a hot sweaty mess. JC Report taught me something new today...about Streetwear Safari. I am fascinated with all things global - and literally traveling the world is something I dream of doing. If you're anything like me, you might feel this Streetwear Safari thing that I'm thinking is gonna be pretty hawt. Kenyan-born Brian Gathii bases his brand, To-orist, in London and the line is certainly like going on a colorful African safari.

This year is already jam-packed with politics, legislation, protests, and pure rivalry as far as the presidential race is concerned. And whether you're an Obama lover or a hater, photojournalist Harry Benson opens an exhibition that's worth seeing this weekend. The exhibition is entitled Politics as Usual: As seen by Harry Benson and takes place at the David Gallery in Culver City.

Benson has photographed every U.S. president from Eisenhower to George W. Bush; was just feet away from Bobby Kennedy the night he was assassinated and in the room with Richard Nixon when he resigned; witnessed both the construction and demolition of the Berlin Wall; and covered the Gulf War and the struggle in Afghanistan.

BOTKIER FOR TARGET

Target has been teaming up with various high end designers to produce an exclusive collection of accessories so far (aside from the GO International line). We've had Gryson and Loeffler Randall and many more in the past but for this upcoming season, we've got Botkier for Target handbags. The line is scheduled to drop July 21st at select Target stores and online, but honestly, I am utterly disappointed. Just take a look at some of the pictures (I could not get myself to post all of the styles because some are just hideous):Yes, the metallic pleather may be cute, but coming into the hot summer season, this may be an outdated trend that won't work too well with the sun beaming and attacking your handbag. I would go for a straight nighttime look with that one. And the rest of the styles? Cheap-looking, boring, and lacks direction...but I may have to see it in person before commentating further.
Anyway, I give props to Target for sealing the deals with reputable designers (coming up soon: Sigerson Morrison for Target and Anya Hindmarch for Target)...but for the designer to collaborate with an accessible store like Target, I feel they should attack the project with full power and dish out innovative designs that represent their brand for the everyday consumer. I can see Botkier's designs in some of these bags (emphasis on some)....but this collection could be upped a notch with a little extra effort in my opinion. I may have to pass out on this one, let me know what some of you all think about it. I guess we may have to be patient until July 21st to get the true verdict. Stay tuned...

I finally watched Sex and the City today!As much as I was getting sick of the hype and the intentional puns that I've even used as the title of my post, I LOVED IT! I genuinely enjoyed the movie - it was definitely all it was hyped up to be and a lot more. Besides the fact that it was over 2 hours long and I had to pee for about 75% of the movie, I enjoyed every scene and there was not one point in time where I felt it was getting boring or stale. Maybe it was because I hadn't watched a movie in the theaters since...like...Knocked Up (that was like sooo 2007 right?), but watching a matinee show (discounts, baby!) @ Century City AMC with my best friend like old times when we actually had nothing to do...was SO GOOD! I laughed, cried, felt jealous but at the same time compassionate for these characters on-screen flaunting their designer labels, romantic lovers, and an indestructible fourfold friendship. I was never really a big fan of SATC, but slowly and surely - I am now a true SATC lover. It may be cliche and overrated but - a girl can dream that one day they will become a SATC girl just like Carrie.

It's amazing how television-turned-movie characters have the abilities to help inspire viewers in many ways. Now, I want to participate even more in capitalist America and consume my earnings on things I really "need" and "deserve" - probably not to the extent of Samantha shopping on Rodeo - but yanno. But this in effect allows me to visualize my goals and the paths I need to get there in order to live such luxurious lives. Besides that, all I need is for Mr. Perfect to come along and scoop me up for the next part of my ride - or rather, I'll be scooping him up? Who knows...
Anyway, the real issue is...that YOU need to go watch this movie! Preferably with your homegirls of course...Labels & Love!

Although he retired from the fashion game in 2002, he has left such a profound effect on the world of design for many generations to come. We should always pay our respects to him for his achievements in creating the YSL label, along with the trends he popularized including the beatnik look, safari jackets, and the tuxedo (Le Smoking) suit.

I've advertised for the Keep Sidewalk Sample Sale probably 5 times before it actually happened this weekend. Anyway, I was able to roll through to their Chinatown headquarters (sounds serious - 'cause it is) on Saturday morning before work and I was super satisfied with the outcome.

The advertisement for the Sidewalk Sample Sale on the curb of the sidewalk - Keep-ing it genius, son.
The sign led me here - I was a little confused at the time. I saw sidewalks but no Keep.
Finally approached our destination - full owl family welcome in effect.
Yup it's true! Ya'll who didn't roll through missed out on saving like $200. Next time, next time..
I presume this whole mat was filled with one-size only shoes available for lucky future Keep owners to take home before the sale started.
There's Eddie in the back, working hard on his birthday - too bad the sale was too poppin' to have a photo op with him. Happy birthday though, for real!

CAFE BRASIL FOR REAL

After a long and grueling work day, what better way to brighten up the night than going out with the girls to eat and talk? Let me think.........yea. Probably nothing. So, this time around, we headed to Cafe Brasil in Culver City. Let me tell you, this is going to be another one of those thank-God-I'm-alive-to-be-able-to-eat-food kinda posts, so please bear with me. This place is so cute, inside and out, and it being my first time at a true "Brazillian" restaurant that's not a churrascaria. The outdoor/den seating reminded me of cafes in Manhattan - the perfect ambiance for the enjoyment of delicious cuisine and juicy gossip.
Postcards that I plan on sending to everyone who would enjoy this place. So cute!

Vanessa didn't want to show her beautiful face, so she let her food take all the spotlight - grilled pork chops baby.
Lindsay pounced on that right when she got it - and thus explaining why she already has food in her mouth.
Awesome dinner, awesome place, and even more awesome company. It's always nice when you can count on certain people to cheer you up - even if you don't ask them to.
Make sure to stop by Cafe Brasil whenever you're in the area - preferably with good friends or family you can enjoy an intimate conversation with, since they are open until 10 pm errday. Props to Vanessa for the selection of the night.

I HAVE AN IDEA.

So this is totally random and sporadic, but I think I'm going to start blogging in English and in Japanese...I wonder how many readers can read it, but if anything, my friends and family in Japan can and at the same time, I can practice my Japanese! I have been really stressin' out about my bilingual capabilities - my Spanish is totally gone besides understanding so we're not even gonna touch on the trilingual ability. As far as I know, there aren't many bilingual blogs out there. I mean there's multiple language versions of the same blog company, such as FreshnessMag that I mentioned before with their launch of Freshness China and Freshness Asia, but I want this to be something where people in Japan (and any other place in the world) can get a feel of what's going on here (and vice versa) from the perspective of a bi-cultural person (me!).

It's fairly easy to write it out, but SO hard to think of how to convey certain messages and figures of speech in a different language. This is going to be tough for me and it's going to take some work and time, but this will be a new beginning for a better 'me'. If anything, ignore the Japanese if it gets to you. Hopefully my English grammar and diction won't be affected by this language fusion action. To all my readers - thanks for all your support and love to this day.

HUF LA GRAND OPENING

So HUF SF is opening it's doors in LA - in where else? Fairfax district!There have been so many openings of stores and boutiques on the street of Fairfax - it's almost like a routine thing for a store opening to occur. The area has been gaining so much buzz and traffic (as if the street isn't crowded enough already). LA is really seeing some changes as far as shopping go-to areas. It used to be the good old Melrose between Fairfax and La Brea, and then shops on La Brea started opening, and now the Fairfax area has expanded to numerous LA flagship stores from all over, and it's all within a couple blocks' walking distance. Anyway, the store will carry all HUF items, as well as collaborations including Stussy (see below), and the HUF x Vans Sk8-Hi's. You tough enough for HUF? Go check it out, homies.

TOKYO (AFP) - A Japanese man puzzled by food mysteriously disappearing from his refrigerator got a shock when he found out a woman had been living in his home for months without permission, police said

The 57-year-old man living alone -- or so he thought -- in the western city of Fukuoka installed a security camera and called the police when he saw images of someone walking around his home while he was out.

"We searched the house in the man's presence. We found the woman in the closet," said a local police spokesman.

The woman, named as 58-year-old Tatsuko Horikawa, was found in a flat storage space only just big enough for a person to squeeze into lying down.

She had sneaked a mattress and several plastic bottles into the cubby hole, police said, adding that the women had been arrested.

"She told police that she had nowhere to live," the spokesman said. "She seems to have lived there for about a year, but not all the time."

It is unclear how she managed to enter the home undetected. Police suspect she might have been closet-hopping, moving from house to house.

Bizarre.

The weather is warming and that calls for a cool refreshment. I've been into a lot of chain/pendant necklaces in the past, and after going to Japan the last couple summers, I was feelin' the "sweets" pendants - you know, of ice cream, donuts, cake....Well anyway, since the summer time is approaching, I think we'll be seeing a lot more of these cutesy pendants. I got this particular one off of Highsnobette, but it's super cute! NylonMag enlisted Lucas Design to create a mini-line of Nylon jewelry. But by far, this one's the best out of the bunch!Sweet.

While the video content has NOTHING to do with models beating up Kanye or frustrated models getting too high off life like the previous versions, it still makes you want to watch it again to get an understanding of WTF is going on. WAAAHOOO! The summer release for Hellz Bellz is super HOT! Not just because it's entitled, "Heat Wave" (figuratively speaking), but really - I'm totally diggin' it on first glance. Check it:Mmkay, I don't know about the whole I'm-sitting-on-the-toilet-so-don't-mess-with-me action shot..BUT every other shot is so badass man! I love all the acid-wash denim and the graphic tanks. The last one is quite interesting - I can't wait to see all these designs in stores. My roommate/best friend has been going through boyfriend issues so she made me take a shot of Hpnotiq before she left the apartment to release her anger. It is currently 9:40 pm on a Tuesday night, and I have this aqua-colored alcohol going through my system when I have tons of work to do tonight. Interesting. And why is it that I am home alone and feeling this way - with Hpnotiq inside of me - seems quite strange. The theme for the night has been "F*** 'em!" - referring to boys/boyfriends/significant others of the male species that is. So as I sit here alone and think back at the impulse of taking a shot of liquor (although Hpnotiq should hardly be considered one), I commend my ability to procrastinate and divulge my attention to anything other than what I should be doing. But my homies come first, especially the best kinds, so if she needs me to release her anger towards testosterone-pumped beings on a Tuesday night when I got lots to do - no doubt about it I'm there. Now that is love. F*** 'EM!!!!
