Just had to put this piece up from MoMA in NYC.
Just a few things to think about (sent to me by a friend while bored at work):
Don't sweat the petty things and don't pet the sweaty things.
If man evolved from monkeys and apes, why do we still have monkeys and apes?
I went to a bookstore and asked the sales woman,"Where's the self-help section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
If a deaf person swears, does his mother wash his hands with soap?
If someone with multiple personalities threatens to kill himself, is it considered a hostage situation?
Is there another word for synonym?
What do you do when you see an endangered animal eating an endangered plant?
Why do they lock gas station bathrooms? Are they afraid someone will clean them?
If a turtle doesn't have a shell, is he homeless or naked?
Can vegetarians eat animal crackers?
Why do they put Braille on the drive-through bank machines?
Does the Little Mermaid wear an algebra?
If one synchronized swimmer drowns, do the rest drown, too?
If you ate both pasta and antipasto, would you still be hungry?
Whose cruel idea was it for the word "Lisp" to have "S" in it?
If you spin an oriental man in a circle three times does he become disoriented?
Hmm....

SENZ UMBRELLAS SENZ THE WETNESS AWAY!
The rain has come. And with it, the wind will come.
But no fear! The Senz Original Umbrella by Totes is here to rescue you from the wetness and harsh winds with its aerodynamic design.
The Senz Umbrella comes in four colors, black, blue, khaki, and red.

At first look the futuristic umbrella appears to be a mere unfinished geometrical part of a whole.
However, this asymmetrical design has been proven to withstand winds of up to 70 mph!
Take that, stupid umbrella that always flips inside out at one gust of wind.
Totes claims that the SENZ "never goes inside out".
Now you don't have to worry about embarrassing yourself in front of others with that puny umbrella failing you miserably on a stormy day.
As a bonus, the SENZ offers the "eyesaver" design: no pointy ends on this umbrella to prevent poking someone's eye out, literally.
At $55 a pop, might be a good investment for all you anti-rain people like myself.
I'm just gonna be hopeful for the Totes SENZ x ________ collaboration umbrellas for some printed design action on these babies.

R.I.P. HEATH LEDGER...WE WILL MISS YOU.
I know, what a shock right. My roommate aka most loyal reader filled me in after class today that Heath Ledger, at just 28-years old, has died today at his SoHo apartment around 4 pm due to drug overdose.
His family has ensured that this was not a suicide.
This is just terribly sad. I wasn't a die-hard fan, but I loved his semi-grungy look with the hair all crazy. I loved "10 Things I Hate About You"...
This is just a great loss for his 2-year old daughter, Matilda, with Michelle Williams.
We'll all remember him...he was an Aussie Hottie.

KEEP NATE DOGG IN YOUR THOUGHTS, DOGG
Reps have confirmed recently that Nate Dogg is paralyzed on the left side due to a stroke that occurred before Christmas last month.
He is expected to recover though, and the good news is that it did not cause any brain or speech impediments. Stay up, dogg. We need to hear more of you ASAP!

ADIDAS GAZELLE SPRING 2008
Adidas has released their new Spring 2008 line of Gazelles which consists of 3 colors shown below.
Gazelles have always been the classic Adidas sneaker.
Love the first two colors...but I'm not sure if it runs small enough for the ladies.

Check out more pictures and cop them via Norse Store

ART GOES RED!!
Some of our favorite artists are going RED! The powerful RED campaign fighting HIV/AIDS and other diseases is further expanding and spreading it's color into the art world.
Sotheby's of New York will be auctioning pieces from Banksy, Takashi Murakami, Damien Hirst, Yinka Shonibare, and more starting February 14th.
A short exhibition will also take place showing the art at the Gagosian Gallery in Manhattan from February 4 thru the 13th.
Proceeds of the high roller auction (anywhere from $100,000 to $7 million!) will go to the United Nations Foundation to support relief programs in Africa.
Red is the new Rad.
Banksy:
Damien Hirst:
Takashi Murakami:
Yinka Shonibare

J.VILLA SPOTS OF THE DAY/PINK-BERRY-DUMB?
Dropped by Archrival in Japanese Village/Little Tokyo today.
Pretty quiet in the store as usual, but noticed that the girls' shirts were out including these three designs:

For the men's selection, Archrival shirts include all of the above women's designs as well as this throwback:
Props to the Archrival site for the images...support the store and pick some shirts up or pay a visit to the website.
After stopping by PopKiller and Rif, picked up some freezy yogreezy @ recently opened Pinkberry on 2nd st.
A little piece of advice to Pinkberry patrons:
Never order 5 Medium x 3 topping combos without first carefully spelling out each and every order because:
1) the girl taking down your order will probably never be quick enough to enter into the computer which 3 simple toppings you want with which 2 simple flavors of yogurt (note: there IS a third flavor now -coffee- so things CAN get a little more complicated) as you clearly enunciate and speak slow enough as if she was a tween.
2) the rest of the workers there will simply be incapable of following the directions that are printed on each sticker on every cup to correctly place the 3 toppings on the correct cup
3) by the time you wanna complain, all of the yogurt starts melting - worst thing in yogurt eating is to drinking it's tartness in liquid form.
4) when you do complain about the wrong toppings, they all synchronize and give you a sad face as if it was your mistake that the stupid register girl can't type in the right toppings - and then asks if it's OK to just add the missing topping on the existing toppings - which you finally agree to considering you gained $0.95 worth another topping you didn't want
5) you contemplate and question the simplicity of the company: yogurt + toppings + directions on each label = hardest job in the world?
6) after it's all said and done, you know you should have gone to Red Mango anyway.
Or even better - Yogurtland to do things your own way.
Conclusion: Just SLOW IT DOWN when you're ready to indulge @ Pinkberry. We yogurt-fiends are too-fast-too-furious for them apparently.
Side note: we still stuffed our faces with yogurt to pretend the complications never occured. Good enuff!

But just cuz Supreme branded it's name onto these Oakley Frogskins, they gotta go for 2 bills more than the original right.
I'm still diggin' the white ones via Caliroots because they glow in the dark and...n-n-now-th-that don't kill me...can only make me stronger!!!!

LUPE: FORGET THE COOL, WHERE THE BOOKS AT?
Lupe Fiasco, the Coolest of the Cool, has dropped some hints on ending his music career.
He's interested in pursuing a new profession as a novelist, and has decided on coming out with one more album, provisionally entitled LupEND, before he calls it quits.
Take his lyrics from "Gotta Eat" in The Cool album:
"to be continued on another menu ya dig.
will he give up his life of crime or will he stay?
this, and other adventured on Lupe Fiasco's next album L-U-P-END"
I don't know, I'm diggin the new album but we'll see if he stays true to his word...maybe he'll make reading novels "the Cool".
THE COOL SUSTAINED SILENT READING. SSR=THE COOL.

Shibuya Bape Store: LED WONDERLAND
The newly opened Shibuya Bape Store is the product of the mastermind interior design company, Wonderwall, which is responsible for designing the rest of the Bape stores as well as Uniqlo.
The new Shibuya store features a multi-colored LED system for the stairs, and adopts the similar "Go Ape!" logo seen at the front of the Fukuoka store I recently visited this summer.
LED makes everything so magical and clean.
Definition of CLEAN.

BARRACUDA MOVING SALE!!!
WHAAAT!? Yes, they are moving to a different location on Melrose Ave. Everything in the store is half off, so check it out over the weekend (after hitting up Kendo - what a great plan!), and when you come up big with that shirt or hoodie you always dreamed of, you will appreciate the time you spent online browsing blogs like mine instead of doing other important things in life.

Man Lives In IKEA
Okay, this is really really random, but amusing: this man, Mark Malkoff is living in IKEA in New Jersey while his apartment is getting fumigated.
He moved in his clothes, brought a trampoline for 'exercise', and eats at the IKEA cafe.
The funny thing is, the company is allowing him to do all this...and he says he'll play tag with the security guards when the store closes. We all LOVE IKEA but..WOW.
Check out his CNN interview here
