Allow me to introduce myself...

This blog was started to bring awareness of global fashion trends, boutiques/stores and brand news, and other miscellaneous information in order to conjoin the urban sneaker/streetwear culture and couture/high end designer fashion scene.

Those that feel constricted reading blogs and visiting stores that concentrate merely on big-name, much too expensive designer brands while only encountering a mere handful of blogs and boutiques that emphasize the sneaker culture and urban streetwear scene should feel a little bit more at ease here.

Finding a hard time navigating back and forth reading about the new Chanel tweed blazer/Louboutin pumps and the hot Hellz Bellz collabo/Nike Blazers?

Fear no more, LippedJeans will get all the fresh details, and ya only gotta open one tab in your Firefox.
From fashion to art to music to architecture to hotels & travel to good eats and healthy tips, its a one stop click to blog-searching freedom.

So what's with the "LippedJeans" title? It's an effort to bring not only these two above lifestyles together, but also to harmonize the cultures of the East and the West.

Lost In Translation is an awesome movie that examines the clash between two cultures, through the lives of Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson and their interaction with the Japanese community in one of the busiest and advanced cities in the world.

The "lipped" comes from the scene shown in the video below, (possibly one of the funniest scenes in the movie perhaps due to Coppola's overall somber directing style) when the female 'entertainer' cannot correctly pronounce 'rip' in order to seduce Murray.
Note: the Japanese language does not have the 'r' sound in their vocabulary.

Consequently, "lipped" combines the clash of the American and Japanese cultures, and emphasizes that everyone attempts to adapt to a particular lifestyle, culture, or social phenomenon to correctly "define" themselves, like the woman in the scene.

We are always getting the best of two (or more) worlds, we can never define ourselves to one particular side: it's all about blurring the dividing line and bringing every aspect together - in harmony.

Wrapping it up, LippedJeans: Lipped as in loved, Lipped as in torn, however you interpret it, love the jeans (skin) you're in, and if they're too RIPPED, then, hey, ya gotta do somethin about it.

As women, it is possibly the most difficult thing in the world to find the perfect pair of jeans. (Seven for All Mankind/Citizens of Humanity does a grrreat job at countering this statement because let's face it, their jeans fit EVERY BODY and EVERY SHAPE pretty damn well.)

So, for the most of us, love the jeans that you absolutely feel sexy and comfortable in (LIP LOCK EM) and wear em everyday if you want to (we won't tell....who sees you EVERY day anyway to even care?) and rip those jeans up that signify the past, and find some new ones that you CAN lip lock and love. You deserve it, girl.

Now that you know what LippedJeans is all about, get your read on, and don't ever feel the pressure to conform to anything. We all don't know what we EXACTLY want, so sneakers or stilettos? Hell, wear both (hopefully not at the same time) and love it!

LIPPED, LOCKED, LOVED.

yes yes ya'll. stay posted on the grind.
