The highly-acclaimed internationally known make-up artist, Shu Uemura, has recently passed into make-up heaven on December 29, 2007.

Marc-alicious.

I love Marc Jacobs. Period.
His eccentric, youthful Marc by Marc clothing/shoe/accessory designs; his affordable special items sold exclusively in his stores; and his always classy and feminine Marc Jacobs Collection are all always coveted.
(I just don't know about the camel toe costume below...but it's original!)

Marc Jacobs is also the ingenious mind behind Louis Vuitton's luxurious leather collection, and a new documentary composed by French director Loic Prigent provides behind the scenes details about the designer, his work, his life, and his efforts at balancing LV with his own collective label.
Getting inside access to MJ and an opportunity to learn fashionable French? Sold!
Merci and au revoir!

While we're on the topic, Marc Jacobs also guest-edited the latest version of Visionaire, the collective fashion-forward quarterly book.
This edition features Mister Marc himself (baring it all!!) and contemporary icons like Drew Barrymore, Lil Kim, Selma Blair, Scarlett Johansson (!!), Vivienne Westwood, and Stella McCartney photographed by fashion photographers Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.
It retails for $375, (I know..for a book?) but get this, it comes with a limited-edition Louis Vuitton gold Miroir case. Stay gold!

Show some love for Marc.

GREEN is the new BLACK

Barneys New York, basically the greatest department store in the planet, is gettin' it, and hittin' it big.
It's like heaven when you step inside with the ability to "ball and drop a few G's".
Maybe it's just the whimsical idea of owning everything in the store because the buyer is so damn good at concocting such a fabulous selection.

Anyway, there's more reason to love Barney's because they've gone madly green.
"Have a green holiday" was their motto for the '07 holiday season, tagged on everything from store displays to their perfect-sized shopping bags.
I wanted one (the bag - and SOMETHING from Barneys) right when I saw celebrities covered in these green babies in Us Weekly.
Earnest Sewn's collaboration with Barneys Co-op has been continuing for quite some time, but recently announced at the end of '07 was the Earnest Sewn and French ballet shoe company Repetto collabo featuring 100% organic shoes.

Below are the women's ballet shoe and men's jazz shoe styles.

In addition, they've also got Core Denim on board to handle the organic denim, where starch is the ONLY additive in the construction process. Crazy right?

Barneys is also taking the green theme ol' school and high class.
Also announced in December 07 is the Goyard x Barneys collaboration in an effort to further promote eco-friendly lifestyles.

Goyard has taken their most popular signature bag, the St. Louis tote, and virtually made it green, with a recycle symbol carefully positioned in yellow.

I'm not sure how buying a $1000 green bag saves the environment, but maybe with the investment and mindset, you'll use it to shop for groceries and not waste paper/plastic.
Hey, it all starts with a little bit of effort, so just like Barneys, don't just have a green holiday, have a green life!!

Allow me to introduce myself...

This blog was started to bring awareness of global fashion trends, boutiques/stores and brand news, and other miscellaneous information in order to conjoin the urban sneaker/streetwear culture and couture/high end designer fashion scene.

Those that feel constricted reading blogs and visiting stores that concentrate merely on big-name, much too expensive designer brands while only encountering a mere handful of blogs and boutiques that emphasize the sneaker culture and urban streetwear scene should feel a little bit more at ease here.

Finding a hard time navigating back and forth reading about the new Chanel tweed blazer/Louboutin pumps and the hot Hellz Bellz collabo/Nike Blazers?

Fear no more, LippedJeans will get all the fresh details, and ya only gotta open one tab in your Firefox.
From fashion to art to music to architecture to hotels & travel to good eats and healthy tips, its a one stop click to blog-searching freedom.

So what's with the "LippedJeans" title? It's an effort to bring not only these two above lifestyles together, but also to harmonize the cultures of the East and the West.

Lost In Translation is an awesome movie that examines the clash between two cultures, through the lives of Bill Murray and Scarlett Johansson and their interaction with the Japanese community in one of the busiest and advanced cities in the world.

The "lipped" comes from the scene shown in the video below, (possibly one of the funniest scenes in the movie perhaps due to Coppola's overall somber directing style) when the female 'entertainer' cannot correctly pronounce 'rip' in order to seduce Murray.
Note: the Japanese language does not have the 'r' sound in their vocabulary.

Consequently, "lipped" combines the clash of the American and Japanese cultures, and emphasizes that everyone attempts to adapt to a particular lifestyle, culture, or social phenomenon to correctly "define" themselves, like the woman in the scene.

We are always getting the best of two (or more) worlds, we can never define ourselves to one particular side: it's all about blurring the dividing line and bringing every aspect together - in harmony.

Wrapping it up, LippedJeans: Lipped as in loved, Lipped as in torn, however you interpret it, love the jeans (skin) you're in, and if they're too RIPPED, then, hey, ya gotta do somethin about it.

As women, it is possibly the most difficult thing in the world to find the perfect pair of jeans. (Seven for All Mankind/Citizens of Humanity does a grrreat job at countering this statement because let's face it, their jeans fit EVERY BODY and EVERY SHAPE pretty damn well.)

So, for the most of us, love the jeans that you absolutely feel sexy and comfortable in (LIP LOCK EM) and wear em everyday if you want to (we won't tell....who sees you EVERY day anyway to even care?) and rip those jeans up that signify the past, and find some new ones that you CAN lip lock and love. You deserve it, girl.

Now that you know what LippedJeans is all about, get your read on, and don't ever feel the pressure to conform to anything. We all don't know what we EXACTLY want, so sneakers or stilettos? Hell, wear both (hopefully not at the same time) and love it!

LIPPED, LOCKED, LOVED.

yes yes ya'll. stay posted on the grind.
