Last night, I had the opportunity to hear and meet one of the newest female emcees in the game, Sirah One.
Donned in a hoodie, keyboard tee, jeans, and brightly colored Dunk Hi's, she spit hard on the mic with every beat the DJ spun.
She has an infectiously cute persona, she's funny, quirky, boyish but feminine.
Her flows are quick and sharp, her spoken word is inspiring, and she deserves mad respect for getting to where she's at.
But believe me, she's not stopping any time soon. She's released her first album, "Sirah One & DJ Hoppa Present: Clean Windows Dirty Floors", which is backed by her label, Broken Complex Records.

I can honestly say that Ferris Bueller's Day Off is my favorite movie of all time.
Ferris ingeniously makes his parents believe he's sick, takes a day off from school, outwits his principal, calls out his girl for a 'family emergency', takes his really sick best friend, and his dad's car, to take a day off in the Windy City.
How freakin' awesome is that???
And yet his witty jokes, constant talks directly into the camera, and the scene where he performs as part of the parade as he lip syncs "Twist & Shout" never fails to get old.

RITA G. ON "FLASHING LIGHTS" & HER "FAT ASS"
Rita G., the video vixen in Kanye's new debut of "Flashing Lights" talks to VH1 about her views on the ambiguous clip that left many with confused reactions.
Mostly these thoughts come to mind: Why does she set her mink coat on fire? Why is she half naked in the middle of the night before beating up 'Ye in the back of the trunk? Furthermore, why is she beating him up with a shovel? Most importantly, where does it go from there? Maybe she's angry Yeezy bought her the coat in a wrong color...
I guess she's responding to these kinds of questions in the interview:
"It's so funny," Rita G, the clip's star, told MTV News about the clip. "This video will go over a lot of people's heads — and it's supposed to. I think it's great that it does. Because Kanye is just on another level; he's ahead of his time, in a sense. So all the third-graders who come home from school and want to watch videos and snap their fingers and all that, they're probably gonna think, 'That video is wack, but that chick got a fat a--.' And that's fine. But people in higher positions, they're gonna see something different. They're gonna get it, people who are thinkers."
Well Rita is right, Kanye is probably just on another level, and we're not ready for it yet. At least she confirmed she knows that she has got a budunkadunk..?
We should all take Rita G's advice, and put our thinking caps on.
Someone told me recently that thinking caps can't close, they turn off...despite my efforts in defending that statement...
So let's just put them on, turn them on, and think about the video.
