LOPEZ TREES PREVAIL

Stanford's Brook Lopez scores with 1.3 seconds left in overtime to defeat Marquette by a single point: 82 - 81. Read it here.
Talk about madness...at least this win adds some points to my bracket.

TRACE MAGAZINE COVER

Much love and respect to Erykah & Q-Tip...but...yeah. Awkward?
Perhaps the ladies at Around The Way Girls summed it up the best.

CLANDESTINE INDUSTRIES...

So Pete Wentz (aka lyricist & bassist from Fall Out Boy and Ashlee Simpson's special friend) has teamed up with Nordstrom BP to design a collection entitled, Clandestine Industries.
The headline is where art meets music...funny, I never knew Pete was into fashion, since most of the time, he's seen wearing Ashlee's clothes.
I guess that's why he's stepping into fashion through Nordstrom BP - his audience being those younger women whose clothes you'd probably see him wearing.
Maybe it's all explained in the name of the brand:
Clandestine: clan·des·tine/klænˈdɛstɪn/[klan-des-tin]–adjective: characterized by, done in, or executed with secrecy or concealment, esp. for purposes of subversion or deception; private or surreptitious.
What secrets ya got, Petey?
A look at some pieces (out of 9 so far) of the line:
If you REALLY want, you can pre-order now at Nordstrom or you can just hold your horses and see if for yourself on April 9.
This ain't a scene...it's a goddamn style race.

MAC x HEATHERETTE

New York's fabulous fashion duo, Traver Rains and Richie Rich together as Heatherette, has teamed up with MAC to release their own collection, following the hit MAC x FAFI line that hit stores last month.
The MAC x Heatherette line consists of pretty-in-pink lipstick, Lipglass, two trio palettes, creamy eye liner, glitter, pigment, 2 shades of nail lacquer, blush, and two kinds of fake eyelashes.

CLAW MONEY - NEW SITE!

Claw Money has launched their new and improved (and more user-friendly) site for us fans, and her Spring 2008 drop is lookin' as hot as ever.
FYI: FREE Shipping on orders over $100 & FREE Stickers with every order!

STUSSY x KATE GIBB

This is probably one of the sickest collaborations that Stussy has brought on board, and I'm glad because to me, it felt like the brand was going downhill as far as designs go, although their Destiny collection featuring graffiti artist Futura has stepped up it's game slightly. This new custom made line features silk-screen artist Kate Gibb and her hip-hop inspired prints. Her art is transformed into these tees that reflect her experimentation of colors (which is, in fact, on point) of photographs that peek into the mundane daily activities of youth hip-hop and musical culture.Pretty dope!
She's created prints for The Chemical Brothers, Simian, Bob Marley, My Computer, The Magic Numbers and most recently Sonny J...and her other collaborations have included Dries Van Noten, Levis, Lee and Adidas in addition to many more advertising projects for companies based in UK, Europe, America and Japan.
Watch a clip about her work via Stussy.

BAPE HEADS SHOW - HONG KONG

Cute, right? Kanye & N.E.R.D. have a big touring season comin' up.

TALKING TRASH ON THE COURT

Literally!Nike's latest basketball-shoe collaboration will surprise many. Not because of its player affiliation—in this case, Phoenix Suns All-Star guard Steve Nash—but because of the materials used. The Trash Talk shoe is made entirely of recycled materials—manufacturing waste, to be exact: everything from the scrap-leather upper to the scrap-ground-foam midsole to the environmentally preferred rubber outsole. The whole thing is packaged in a fully recyclable cardboard box.

Talk about Reduce, Reuse, Recycle...Rebound??
Steve Nash fans should be proud of this effort to merge sports and a more ecologically friendly environment.
Not available in the rest of the states until April 22, but New Yorkers can cop @ House of Hoops in Harlem.

The right EmPHAsis on the Wrong SylLAble

Ever find yourself wondering how to pronounce those luxurious brand/designer names and feel like shooting yourself in the head because you don't know how to speak French or Italian and look retarded pretending to know how to say them? Sure, you've got down Dior, Chanel, Prada...but what about them tricky ones like Christian Lacroix, Jean Paul Gaultier, Nicolas Ghesquière, Lanvin (it's deceiving, but it's pronounced differently than you think)?

Well, to help a sister (or brother) out, Teri of the Wall Street Journal gives proper pronunciations for those words and an audio sample you can replay over and over til' you get it down right.

Now, you can act like a true Parisian fashionista while impressing your friends with that amazing pronunciation.

Check it out here and get yo' words straight!

MONEY HUNGRY LEPRECHAUNS...OR WAS IT A CRACKHEAD?

Happy St. Patrick's Day! That is, for those of you who celebrate this Irish holiday.
Designer Jeremy Scott had an early take on St. Patty's Day during Fall 2008 Fashion Week last month, with these Batman & Robin-inspired eyes, mean, green, ca$h money pieces for this fall:I'm not one to be seen eating corned beef with soda bread or gulfing down green lager, but it's nice to acknowledge a holiday with a long history - and a pretty cool excuse to buying/wearing/consuming/advocating green things.
In fact, there are quite a few items I can name that are green and/or Irish at the top of my head: clovers (four-leaf = lucky), veggies, herbs of various kinds, Lucky Charms (now being served at Red Mango for a limited time only), being environmentally safe/friendly, lime Jello, pistachio ice cream/cake, the Chicago River (The river is dyed green every year - isn't that a little harmful to the environment?)...Anyway, I guess for me, Irish ain't my thing, but hats off to drinkin' beer, advocating a green world, and attempting Irish accents.
Just don't let the bad side of green like envy & greed get to you this year. But then again, there's a pot o' gold at the end of the rainbow, and a leprechaun searches for it. That's pure greed, since one would do anything for a pot o' fine gold, ey?
But then again, if leprechauns really do exist searching for that treasure, this lady in the car probably sums it up the best: it "COULD BE A CRACKHEAD!"
Well, whatever your plans are for tonight, have a happy and safe green day, everyone!
LepreKanye doing that jig, over & out!

MARCH IS ABOUT TO GET MAD.

I apologize for the lack of posts recently, I know I'm usually on it with about at least 4 posts a day, but unfortunately, I've been swamped.
Excuses, excuses, yeah yeah. But things will be updated ASAP within a couple days.
But until then, today was selection Sunday, what many of you NCAA basketball fans out there have been waiting for.
WHOOP THERE IT IS:I urge you to fill this out according to your favorites, AP standings, Coach's poll, or whatever, because..let's face it, even if you're not really a college basketball fan, you can't avoid the massive crowds at sports bars, the wild and crazy fans going shenanegans over rankings and scores, and basically this is what you're supposed to do in March.
Thus, the name, March Madness.
Anyway, if this is boring..then I'm sorry, but basketball is quite exciting on the spectator's side for me, and I apologize in advance for my March Madness postings that I will be creating in the future.
I just have to share it with the world.
Check into CBS NCAA for daily updates and coverage of this sport going wild all throughout March.
First round starts Thursday, March 20 - stay up to date. or not.
